CLAN MATCH .vs. STP 25.OCT.08

I always liked being taken to school. Mostly because it meant that I could avoid that one person who sat on the bus and smelled strangely of garlic and cats. But thats when I was a kid. Last night, 25OCT08, DWrath was taken to school and was taught that we have a whole helluva lot more to learn. It was reminiscent of being thrown back into the 1st Grade and the 5th Grade bully decided that you would be the source of his ire for the rest of the year.
Stop teh Pwnage (STP) showed up with three of their four member squad, bark0de, Vanity13, and Spartan Greed. Divine Wrath had an amazing turnout that night, people canceling prior appointments to join in on the fun. So many turned up that I didn't even know 4 of the cats that showed. But alas, not everyone could participate, so a quick TS game was held to determine who would be given the honor of being owned by STP. Finally 6 of us, T4nk, froman, Mopar, DemonDays, Archer, and myself decided that we would go two games with 3 then switch off with the other three.
Once that was decided everyone joined each other in the lobby and introductions were quickly made. After quick good lucks, Team 2 (froman, Mopar, and Demon) left the lobby, leaving Team 1 (r3v3rend, T4nk, Archer) to their horrible, horrible fates:

Game 1:
TS on Valhalla - Starting Weapons: AR, TS style: default
Outcome: STP - 50 .vs. DWrath(Team 1) - 22

We all realized a couple things early on in the game, that were relentlessly hammered into us throughout the rest of the match:
1. Spartan Greed could probably snipe flies if they were to go through the Mancannon.
2. Vanity13 definitely deserves his 4 Star General rating.
3. bark0de is immune to BR rounds.
4. Whoever they had using the laser, apparently never ran out of ammo.
5. Archer should not start with the sniper.

It was a beautiful slaughter, where STP, proved that Team Shots and strategy work really, really well. They controlled the middle ground, early, after sniping me immediately out of the air, and proceeded to hold that valuable piece of territory for the rest of the game. I don't think any of us ever got a chance to see their side of the map at any time that match. They held the middle and slowly pushed us back to our base.
At one point I thought we could salvage something from this, when I finally grabbed the snipes and was able to nab three kills. I was grasping at straws.
Even the infamous "ArcherT4nkHog," was stopped short at the middle ground. Not by laser or rocket pod, but by a Power Drain and Team shot BRs.
It was humbling to say the least.
But at least we had fun... right?

Game 2:
Multi Flag CTF on WaitingRms - Starting Weapons: AR, CTF settings: default, 3 caps
Outcome: STP - 3 .vs. DWrath (Team 1) - 0

STP was nice enough to suggest using the Foundry variant that I had been working on specifically for this clan match. I held no illusions about how things would go even if we were to play on a map I specifically created. But I was curious to see how the map would handle in an actual CTF match.
Good news, the map was awesome and worked great.
Bad news, I felt like I didn't even know my own map.
STP capped the first flag point early in the game. bark0de rained holy hell on us from the sniper spawn, while his mates grabbed the rockets and proceeded to vacate us from our territory.
After that initial debacle, We managed to slow the pace a bit. But, it was similar to trying to prevent a piano from sliding down a set of stairs.
Its going to come down. Its only a matter of when.
We managed to get their flag out of their base, and halfway to ours, however, the booby traps that I so lovingly crafted were my undoing.
They scored their three caps in just under 7 minutes, leaving us humbled, broken, and ashamed.
But then again, we had fun...

The next two matches were played by our Team 2 guys. No specifics except for what I can pull from their post carnage reports. But it was pretty much the same story. They faired better then Team 1 in their TS game, after some initial trouble with froman losing connection and getting booted. They restarted again once froman was able to get back on.

Game 3:
TS on Guardian
Outcome: STP - 50 .vs. DWrath(Team 2) - 40

Game 4:
Multibandera (CTF) on Pitstop
Outcome: STP - 3 .vs. DWrath(Team 2) - 1

Despite the traumatic losses, it was fun. Everyone was excited to play in the clan match and it was a learning experience for everyone. Well, everyone in DWrath. STP seems to know what they are doing.
The members of STP were good sports and we look forward to playing with or against them again soon.
We extend our thanks for the opportunity to compete with such talent.
We'll cut the check for that ass whooping you gave to us later.

the slayer game on guardien was a mash of newby mistakes and sheer luck some of the time. that is how i felt like i played. i learned a hell of lot from the whole experience. There use of weapons was amazing. i died by the mauler more times than any weapon used. We did our best trying to hold off there flag capturing. i was surprised we scored. then the game was over a minute later.

RE: CLAN MATCH .vs. STP 25.OCT.08

We thought you all did very well in the Guardian games. Actually, we thought you did very well in the flag game as well! I just wish the games were a little longer (I still regret not making the ctf game up to 5!) but I was glad we got to run the slayer game twice. I also thought you guys held up very well when you were short one player. I still need to watch those games over and write my reviews. After tomorrow I will have turned in the research paper that has been keeping me busier than usual, so I'll be able to do some creative writing thereafter.
